We are HERE

The inspiration behind my personal project stems from a deep connection with my heritage and lifelong interests. Growing up Korean and having lived in Korea half of my life, I have always valued the sense of community and shared purpose that defines my culture. When I later moved to Japan at the age of 8, sports became the bridge that helped me connect with others and find a sense of belonging. 

Even though I was unfamiliar with the new environment, playing allowed me to form friendships beyond language. Those experiences showed me how powerful collaboration and understanding could be when it comes to bringing people together. With this project, I hope to capture and share the same sense of unity by creating a website that documents my journey as I host a sporting event, along with interviews and reflections from others who were a part of the event. For me, this project isn't only a personal process but also a way to bring communities together.
