Main takeaways and Impact
My personal project has definitely contributed to improving Korea-Japan relations, especially towards kids, by promoting Mutual understanding and positive interaction. Historically speaking relationship between Korea and Japan has always affected by political conflict and unresolved historical issues, which can influence how young children perceive each other at a young age. These inherited perceptions have the power to lead to stereotypes or even discomfort. By designing my project around cultural exchange and shared experiences, I was able to address these challengesat thes root level by encouraging a positive face-to-face interaction between the children from the event.
The evidence that was gathered throughout my project shows that direct interaction played a significant role in changing attitudes and building respect. One child stated that participating in the event “ changed how I thought about Japanese kids.” Even as a child living in Japan, he was not exposed to these opportunities where he could talk to people from different cultures. He explained that Japanese people seemed kind, ppolitee and cooperative and that they helped one another and followed the rules well. The child also expressed curiosity, saying that Japan felt interesting and that he wanted to learn more about it despite living in the country. This response shows a clear shift from a limited or neutral understanding to a more positive and open-minded perception of different cultures. This shows that first-hand experiences are extremely effective in challenging ideas and replacing them with respect.
In addition to verbal feedback, my observations from the day of the event provided further evidence of impact. During the activities, children became increasingly confident in communicating with one another, even when language barriers existed. They work together naturally showed patients and showing openness towards cultural differences. These behaviors show that the environment that was created by the project supports cooperation and even trust. By allowing the children to experience the positive interactions at an early age, my project helped lay the foundation for a healthier attitude towards people from a different country.
Overall The evidence given proves that my personal project created a small but meaningful change in my own community in terms of perception and behavior. While the impact may not be immediately visible at a national level, these individual attitudes can shift the important cause of long-term international relations that are shaped by how people think and act. By being able to foster empathy and curiosity among young people, my project contributed to improving career Japan relations realistically and sustainably.
